Joanne Loo is a visual artist
based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

With a background in graphic design and illustration, Joanne actively explores various mediums to examine personal experiences and how they connect, divide, and define us as human beings. Drawing from her lived experience as a Malaysian-Chinese, Joanne’s work confronts dissonance between her childhood memories and experiences as an adult. 

She questions family dynamics, identity and trauma through sculptural vessels, paintings and drawings.  By utilising layers, colour, textures and storytelling, each piece urges viewers to confront and question their own narratives.
