Losing My Appetite | Dinner

Part 3 /

So this is how we can stay connected these days. Over the ambitiousness of how much we cook. One dish comes after the other, each more elaborate than the last.

How is it that it feels so familiar, and yet so wrong?

The darkness is here. It’s bigger and it’s all over the place.

It’s blocking out the glossy skin of the roast, the crisp cheese topping, the crusty bread, the glistening jelly. Everything tastes like cardboard.

Put away the paint and paper.
Let’s stop painting for tonight.
Maybe tomorrow
will be
a good day
again.
